HANDIMAIN - Patrice REVOL & Yves ROSSETTI

Setting standards for the analysis of the movement of the upper limb

Manufacturers need to validate the clinical use of their tools such as orthotics, electrical stimulation, pharmacology. While well-established international standards exist for lower limbs motricity, there is still no consensus for the upper limbs’ motor skills. movement recording depends on the user and his or her specific need. The objectives of HANDIMAIN are twofold: (1) select a set of reference for upper limb movements that could serve as a standard for patient assessment and (2) complete the development of software for data acquisition to automatically extract the kinematic parameters of the movement. The achievement of these two objectives will have an added value for the research and medical sectors: quantified analysis of the movements of patients with different pathologies, case comparison thanks to the integration of records in a database, monitoring of progress.
