CORTEX has been renewed for 5 years. On January 1st 2020, CORTEX will count 22 teams and a new director, Jean-Louis Bessereau.

“Frédérique Vidal, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, and Guillaume Boudy, Secretary General for Investment, announced on 8 February 2019 the list of 103 laboratories of excellence (LabEx) that Prime Minister Edouard Philippe has decided to extend for 5 years following a positive evaluation by an international jury.

As Prime Minister Edouard Philippe pointed out in his February 1st speech on research, this support represents an additional commitment by the State to research of €444 million over 5 years.

Since 2011 and 2012, as part of the Future Investment Programme (PIA), the State has been supporting LabEx, which brings together research teams with international visibility, having chosen to join forces to develop ambitious scientific projects, to compete on an equal footing with their foreign counterparts, to build an integrated research, training and development policy, but also to welcome students and high-level researchers.”
