Abstract :

Models developed in mathematical psychology explain that perceptual decisions are made when sensory evidence accumulated over time reaches a specific decision threshold (Gold & Shadlen, 2007). Specific brain regions have been associated with motivation and decision making. Yet, the interactions between motivational and decisional mechanisms are not well understood at a mechanistic level. Moreover, most studies have focused on self-affecting decisions but less is known regarding how rewards concerning others influence perceptual decisions. We performed three experiments based on a paradigm that we desiged to investigate the influence of the reward/punishment (Rw/Pn) associated with- and the person affected by- a decision.
