Lyon Neuroscience Research Center (CRNL)

Created in January 2011, the Lyon Neuroscience Research Center (CRNL) integrates the multidisciplinary expertise of 380 members (14 teams) for a synergistic approach of brain organization, cognitive functions and mental states, and of related brain disorders.
The neural substrates of brain functions, such as perception and action, attention, memory and learning, sleep and vigilance, emotion and social cognition, are investigated along two entwined strategic directions: from genes and cells to behavior and cognition, and from bench to patient.
Aiming at a comprehensive understanding of these complex brain functions, a multiscale integrated approach is pursued in animal models and humans. Tackling brain dysfunction means deciphering the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms from the molecular/cellular level up to neural network organization and behavior, and translating this knowledge to new diagnostic markersand to innovative therapies.
